Brad - I have spoken to Mike, over at Trick.
It turns out that there is a compression
spring in that housing, rather than an ex-
pansion spring. He said that it was totally
silent and invited me out there. I may take
him up on it. I'll let you know.

OK, so it's an enhanced (enchanted?) Speed King, with spring tension controlled from the top, quiet, with a quick release lever.
Sounds like they went after everything that's wrong with the SK; hope they get it right.
Hmmmh, sounds like it could be great pedal. Like I said, I found the design terrible. I really dislike the look of it. Regardless, I would be eager to hear of your experiences Peter - if you get around to trying it out.
I live in Jersey and they had one of these kits at a local music shop. Man. They sound amazing. Machined out of aircraft quality aluminum I'm told.
The 20" kick had SOOO much attack and presence and the toms and snare were really resonant. I know some are hesitant to jump ship from wood to alum., but these kits are amazing in my opinion.
If memory serves me correctly, the 4 piece shell kit (inc. snare) was around $2,499.00
If I didn't just buy a house I would be very tempted to plunk down the coin.
I was told the pedal didn't have a spring. Apparently, this wasn't correct. I'll have to ask Mike about it next time he's in. The pedal wasn't there tonight, I think they brought in the prototype and took it with them to NAMM. Production should have it available in a couple of months - if what I was told is correct. Next time I see it, I'll check it out for you.
